Christmas is making its way toward us rapidly this year. It feels like just yesterday was the fourth of July, haha! I don’t know if it’s just me or what but, I feel like 2024 has gone by so quickly.
Although I’m a little sad the year is going to be over soon, I am also super psyched for the holidays. It’s honestly the best time of the year. Who wouldn’t want to be bundled up by the fireplace in 10 blankets?
Drinking hot cocoa, building snowmen, bingeing your favorite TV shows, and the list goes on and on why the holiday season is the best. One of my absolute favorite Christmas traditions is Elf on the Shelf.
My parents used to come up with such elaborate ideas when I was younger and we always had loads of fun trying to find Elfie. While it is lots of fun for the kids, it may be a little stressful for the adults trying to come up with over 20 really great ideas.
To help make the most joyful time of the year a little less stressful, I’ve gathered over 40 of the most hilarious Elf on the Shelf ideas that are just too funny not to recreate.
HOW TO INTRODUCE ELF
If you’re wondering how to introduce your Elf for the very first time, I suggest you buy the illustrated storybook written by Carol V. Aeborsold and her daughter Chanda A. Bell.
The book goes over how Santa Claus creates his nice and naughty list, what the tradition is, and what the Elves are there to do. The book comes with an official adoption certificate for the Elf and the Elf doll is also included. Get the storybook here.
Now that you’re familiar with the tradition and what it is, the very first thing you’ll want to do is give your Elf a name. A few most popular names are Buddy, Snowflake, and Sparkle.
On the first night, you can write a little note that says “I’m back” or something that tells the kids they are here to make sure they get on the nice list. Make sure it looks like the Elves wrote it.

There are only three rules to this magical Christmas tradition.
- You cannot touch the Elf or they will lose their magic. If the kids do accidentally touch it, they will need to write an apology letter to Santa and sprinkle some cinnamon near the Elf.

- Lastly, the Elf only moves when the children are in bed snoozing.

How cute is this? Grab a large container and pour some water in.
Then just place the googly eyes, a small carrot, small sticks, and a few snowflakes on top to make it look like the snowman has melted.

The Elves are making change for the next school bake sale but by grating paper money? I’m not sure if that’s the way to do it but it’s the thought that counts, right? Haha!

Oh dear! It looks like the Elves Pea’d themselves again, LOL! I think some of us can relate to being overly excited and peeing ourselves once or twice. No? Just me? Ok.
